Structure Fire

10/2/07: On arrival we found heavy smoke and fire coming from the rear center of a single family raised ranch. One occupant had self-evacuated. Entry was made through the front door with one crew using a 1-3/4" hoseline. The hose crew went directly to the seat of the fire while a primary search was conducted by a second crew. While entry was being made, a second 1 3/4" handline was stretched to the front door to backup the first. At the same time, ventilation was accomplished by taking windows on the first floor. Knockdown of the main body of fire was accomplished within 10 minutes. Extensive overhaul of the kitchen, living room and hall was necessary. Fire units were on scene for approximately 2-1/2 hours before releasing the home back to the owner.
